Nova Scotia Seaside Retreat

Peggy’s Cove, Canada

August 18 - 21, 2025

hosted by Cat Doyle

Cat’s Peggy’s Cove retreat was just what I needed! As is typical, Cat’s care and attention to detail in personally curating her retreats made this one truly special. The personal tours (on land and water) of Peggy’s Cove by those with deep family connections to the area made the trip unique, and incredibly enjoyable.

A coastal yoga retreat to rest, recharge, and explore.

Embrace the rugged beauty and magic of Peggy's Cove, and return home with a heart full of unforgettable memories.

Cat creates ceremony with each segment of the retreat so there’s ample time to foster transformation in a short period of time. It brings the group together quickly, which is remarkable. I left feeling like everyone was soul fam.

All levels welcome. Come for the yoga—stay for the scenery, good food, and laid-back East Coast charm.

Step away from the pace of everyday life and spend a few days on the rugged coast of Nova Scotia. Wake up to ocean views, breathe in the salty air, and practice yoga in a calm, coastal setting.

Each day includes yoga sessions that offer a mix of movement and rest—from energizing flow classes to slower-paced yin and restorative practices. All levels are welcome. The goal is simple: to help you feel grounded, refreshed, and more connected to yourself.

Between sessions, we’ll explore Peggy’s Cove—known for its lighthouse, rocky shoreline, and charming fishing village feel. Take in the scenery, laugh with new friends, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this iconic East Coast destination.

You’ll enjoy meals featuring fresh, local ingredients—think seafood, seasonal vegetables, and regional favourites that highlight the best of Nova Scotia’s food culture.

In the evenings, we’ll gather for low-key activities like a bonfire, live music, or stargazing. It’s a chance to unwind, connect, and end the day on a relaxed note.

Whether you’re looking for time to reset, to explore a new place, or simply to enjoy yoga by the sea, this retreat offers the perfect mix of downtime and discovery.

This retreat was a great way to relax and unwind. Cat curated each day’s activities with a mix of sight-seeing, yoga, and down time. The food was delicious and options were provided to meet dietary needs. The resort was comfortable, with a local vibe and was located right on the ocean. I would recommend this trip as a quick getaway or as a week long excursion with a few days spent in Halifax.

This unique retreat offers you the perfect blend of adventure, local experiences, wellness and cozy coastal accommodations.

FAQs with Cat

Q: Is this retreat only for experienced yogis?

A: Definitely not! You will benefit from having practiced yoga before, but I am a seasoned yoga teacher who can adapt the practice depending on your skill level. I can also can offer suggestions and modifications if you’re dealing with an injury. This is a great opportunity to explore different styles of yoga, ask questions, and learn variations that work for your body.

Q: Who is this retreat not for?

A: This retreat will be a dynamic, active getaway with a lot of outdoor time. If you need a lot of structure or are not comfortable adapting to weather, this may not be the best retreat for you. The Maritimes boasts fresh seafood, and menus tend to be less vegan-friendly. Food preferences, dietary restrictions, and allergies can be accommodated, but the options may be limited.

Q: What if I’m coming to Nova Scotia alone?

A: That’s great! You’ll have an opportunity to connect more with me, the group, and yourself. You can choose a single room for solo travellers or share a cabin with others. You will be fully supported and integrated into the group.

Q: How do I get there?

A: Oceanstone is located at 8650 Peggy’s Cove Road, Indian Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. If you’re local to the region, I suggest driving and there is ample parking available. If you’re flying, the closest airport is Halifax (YHZ). From there, you may want to rent a car, use local transportation, Uber (approximately $115 CAD), or if a few people are arriving at the same time, I will connect you to discuss transportation options.

Q: What does a day at this retreat look like?

A: Each day of our retreat will be unique, as I’ve curated the activities based on my experience of this region and of hosting retreats. Typically, we will have two yoga practices per day (one more active and one more passive), meditation, breathing practice, meals together, an activity/outing and free time.

Q: What is the weather like in August?

A: Summer in the maritimes is more temperate, and the ocean can give off cool breezes. Typically there isn’t much rain at this time and temperatures range from 24C/75F to 13C/55F. As we will oceanfront for most of our retreat, plan to bring clothing layers. Curious about the current weather in Peggy’s Cove? Take a look at this livecam of the lighthouse here!

Q: Am I required to participate in every excursion and activity?

A: No, you can customize your retreat experience to be as relaxed or as lively as you want. Although a group itinerary with daily meditation, yoga and activities has been curated, at the end of the day you can opt in or out of anything along the way.

Q: What is NOT included in the price?

A: You are responsible for booking and paying for flights and/or transportation to Oceanstone. I also strongly recommend that you purchase travel and medical insurance, as no refunds will be issued. Lunches and dinners are not included, though we will be together as a group. Plan to budget $25 - $40CAD per meal, sans alcohol. We will be attending an evening show at Labour Day Picnic Cafe and you may want to purchase a beverage there. I HIGHLY recommend booking in for the Hydrothermal journey at Oceanstone, either before check in on Monday or check out on Thursday. Reservations must be made in advance and rates are $85CAD for three hours.

Q: When does the retreat start and end?

A: Check in at Oceanstone is at 3pm on Monday August 18. We will start the Opening Circle at 4pm. Check out from Oceanstone is at 11am on Thursday August 21. They will do their best to accommodate early check in/out, and in the event they can’t, your bags can be stored in a safe area and you can enjoy the grounds and common spaces.

Q: Are there any specific health related issues that I should be aware of?

A: One of our excursions is a boat tour. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider bringing medication. Or chat with me about natural remedies!
