โ˜ƒ๏ธ Winter is the best!

I hope you're warm and cozy in the aftermath of this snowstorm! (If you're not in Ottawa, we had a large amount of snow come down yesterday.) I was lucky to squeeze in an urban snowshoe on a bike path, between teaching two of my yoga classes.

Yoga is not just postures, but also philosophy, breathing, energetics, meditation and Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda (the sister science of yoga), this time of year is Vata season. Vata has the qualities of dry, rough, cold, subtle. To illustrate, think about a freezing winter wind whistling through the leafless trees. In the body, this can feel like dry or rough skin, cracking joints, slower digestion (perhaps with extra "air"!) and less ability to focus. To create balance, you want to emphasize activities and foods that are the opposite of these Vata qualities.

Intentional movement is the key element against stiffness, coldness and weak digestion. Stepping onto the mat is your invitation to loosen up and get the fire burning inside again. The 12-week yoga series are starting this week, through the Unroll the Mat studio. There are 4 livestream sessions offered weekly - all focusing on different ways to move your body:

Mondays 8:15PM Yin Unwind
Tuesdays 5PM Core Flow
Wednesdays 7:30AM Yoga Mobility Flow
Wednesdays 8:15PM Chakra Yoga

Come and move with us from the coziness of your own home. Letโ€™s connect with one another during these winter months - I would love to see you, on the regular!
