Deep Rest 💤

How long has it been since you’ve had a good rest? I know you sleep every night and likely recline on your sofa every so often 😉 What I mean is how long has it been since you've had a deep rest?

I just finished a book about this subject: Rest, by Alex Soojung-Kim PangThis research-based book refers to studies about work and productivity and offers different strategies we can implement in our own lives. I found many of the chapters useful, especially the ones about walking, napping, vacations and sabbaticals. These are all ways we can give our brains and bodies rest.

I have already started walking more and taking meetings while walking. After reading what the science says, I will definitely be napping 💤 often! Being mindful about time away and disconnecting is another strategy to recharge.

Our society has a culture of busyness where working more can be a badge of honour. This is not making us happier, healthier or more connected. That’s what rest does. Brené Brown related a story recently in her podcast, Unlocking Us, about the idea of us always inhaling. We can’t just consume and intake all the time. We need to relax, let go, disconnect. We need to exhale every once in a while.

In fact, while reading this: INHAAAALE…….EXHAAAAAAAAAAAALE

How do you feel?
