Delicious Golden Mylk π
/Golden mylk is a soothing anti-inflammatory drink that is perfect for cool weather sipping. All of the spices have antioxidant properties and can aid digestion. The main spice, turmeric, gives it a lovely yellow colour. You can also make a larger batch, refrigerate for up to three days and reheat as desired.
In Ayurveda, golden mylk helps to balance all three dosha (mind-body type). Itβs great to have a cup before bed to promote a restful sleep. Itβs important to include the black pepper and coconut oil when making this drink. The piperene in black pepper unlocks the bioactive ingredient in turmeric, curcumin. Curcumin is also fat soluble and pairing it with a fat or oil can help absorption.
Ingredients:
2 cups of mylk of your choice (I like almond and/or coconut)
1.5 tsp ground turmeric
ΒΌ tsp ground ginger (or use whole pieces and strain them out)
ΒΌ tsp ground cinnamon (or 1 whole stick)
Dash cayenne powder
2 twists of fresh ground black pepper
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1 Tbsp maple syrup (adjust to taste)
Directions:
Add ingredients to a small pot and whisk together. Heat until warm and serve. Add (only a little!) more maple syrup if desired. Makes 2 servings
