6 Cold Weather Wellness Tips 🥶

About 80% of your immune system is in your gut. You can't out-oil an unhealthy diet or not enough rest. Make sure that you're taking care of yourself on at least those two fronts. I know that can be easier said than done, but use the sun as a cue to go to bed earlier and the dropping temperature as a signal to eat nourishing soups and stews.

1. I start my day by tongue scraping all the gunk (aka ama) that accumulates while sleeping. In observing what is there, I can decide if I need to up the amount of oils or supplements I use.

2. I take drops of Copaiba (anti-inflammatory for gut and joints), DDR Prime (DNA damage repair) and On Guard (protective blend) under my tongue and drink a cup of copper water.

3. In the shower, I put drops of Easy Air on the faucet and floor to infuse myself with feelings of easy breathing and wellness.

4. I massage my feet with oil before popping on socks. My favourites right now are On Guard, Cheer (great for mood management) and Balance (grounding).

5. Supplements. Not my favourite (ummm, I can't swallow pills!), but they work. I take doTERRA's LifeLong Vitality and the kid's probiotics. I have heard from a few friends that the new Adaptiv and Turmeric capsules are awesome.

6. Add oils to a hot beverage. I am a tea drinker, so I may add a drop of Lemon, Grapefruit or Oregano to my tea to activate my immune system and facilitate the workings of the detox organs. If you drink coffee, try adding a drop of Wild Orange, Cinnamon or Cardamom for antioxidant benefits.

BONUS 7. Manage Stress. Use parts of your day as a reminder to use your oils, before you get too stressed. Essential oils work the best when you use them regularly. Roll Adaptiv on the back of your neck before you leave the house or inhale Motivate while you wait for your car to warm up. Put a drop of On Guard of your hands after using the bathroom to disinfect and protect. Inhale Frankincense on your commute home to shift your mindset. I roll Lavender (the oil of communication) on my throat before I teach a yoga class. Use oils that you feel drawn to, as there is no right or wrong way to use them!
